What Is Our Mosquito Control Service?

Our mosquito control service protects your outdoor spaces from April through October with seven monthly barrier treatments. Each visit includes a full property inspection, a targeted barrier spray, and larviciding of standing water. Treatments are applied every 21 to 30 days using standard synthetic products, or every 14 to 21 days with our eco-friendly botanical option. We focus on the areas where mosquitoes rest and breed, so you get real relief where you spend time outdoors. Whether you have a small backyard or a large commercial property, our program is designed to reduce mosquito populations quickly and consistently throughout the season.

How Does Barrier Treatment Work?

Barrier treatment is the foundation of our mosquito control program. Our technicians apply product directly to the places where mosquitoes hide and rest during the day including shrubs, bushes, undersides of leaves, shaded areas, tall grass, fence lines, and the undersides of decks and patios. Mosquitoes must contact the treated surface to be affected, so thorough coverage of these harborage zones is critical. Standard synthetic products, which use pyrethroid-based chemistry, provide up to 21 days of residual protection. Our eco-friendly botanical option, made from garlic, cedar, and essential oils, provides up to 14 days of protection. Most customers see a 70 to 90 percent reduction in mosquito activity within 24 to 48 hours.

What Is Larviciding and Why Does It Matter?

Larviciding targets mosquitoes before they become adults. During each visit, our technicians inspect and treat standing water on your property where mosquito larvae develop. Common treatment areas include decorative ponds, drainage spots, catch basins, bird baths, and low-lying areas that collect water after rain. By breaking the mosquito life cycle at the larval stage, we reduce the number of new adults that emerge throughout the season. Larviciding works alongside barrier treatment to deliver the most complete mosquito management possible. Without addressing standing water, even the best barrier spray program will see faster repopulation. Our technicians are trained to identify these water sources quickly and treat them during every visit.

Standard vs. Eco-Friendly Treatment Options

We offer two product options to fit your preferences and lifestyle. Our standard synthetic treatment uses pyrethroid chemistry, which is one of the most widely used and researched insecticide classes available. It provides up to 21 days of residual control and is our most cost-effective option. Our eco-friendly botanical treatment uses natural ingredients including garlic, cedar oil, and other essential oils. It provides up to 14 days of residual control and costs approximately 15 to 25 percent more per treatment. Both options are applied using the same barrier and larviciding approach. If you have concerns about synthetic pesticides around children, pets, or garden plants, the botanical option may be a better fit for your household.

Why Mosquito Control Matters for Your Health

Mosquitoes are more than a nuisance. They are carriers of serious diseases. In Virginia, mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus, Eastern equine encephalitis, and Zika virus to people. They also spread heartworm to dogs and cats, which can be fatal without treatment. These health risks make mosquito control a genuine safety measure, not just a comfort upgrade. Our barrier treatment program is designed to significantly reduce the mosquito population on your property throughout the entire active season. By addressing both adult mosquitoes and larvae during each visit, we help protect your family and pets from the health consequences of high mosquito exposure in your own backyard.

Is the Treatment Safe for My Family and Pets?

Both our standard and eco-friendly treatments are safe once dry. After we complete a treatment, we ask that people and pets stay off the treated area for 30 to 60 minutes while the product dries. Once dry, the treated surfaces are safe for normal activity. We recommend keeping children and pets indoors during application to avoid any direct contact with wet product. After treatment, avoid watering your lawn for six to 24 hours and delay mowing for 24 to 48 hours. These steps help preserve the product and extend its effectiveness. Our technicians will let you know when it is safe to return to your yard, and we are always happy to answer questions about product safety before or after each visit.

How Is Mosquito Control Priced?

Our pricing is based on your property's treatable outdoor area, not the total lot size. Treatable area refers to the outdoor spaces that can actually be sprayed, excluding structures, driveways, and hardscape. Pricing starts at $59.97 per visit for properties up to 8,000 square feet, with the full seven-treatment season totaling $419.79. Larger properties are priced on a sliding scale up to $237.97 per treatment for properties approaching one acre. Properties over one acre receive a custom quote. No sales tax is applied. You can pay per application or prepay the full seasonal package to receive a five percent discount. Pricing is straightforward with no hidden fees.

What Happens If It Rains After My Treatment?

We stand behind our work with a complimentary re-treatment policy. If your property receives two or more inches of rain within three hours of your treatment, we will return and re-treat at no additional charge. This rain guarantee reflects our commitment to delivering the full value of every visit. Under normal weather conditions, you should see consistent mosquito reduction between scheduled visits. To help the treatment last as long as possible, avoid irrigating your lawn for six to 24 hours after application. Light rain after the product has fully dried typically does not significantly reduce performance, but heavy downpours shortly after treatment can. Our re-treatment policy ensures your protection is never compromised by weather.

Mosquito Control in Windsor: What to Expect During the Season

Windsor's rural Isle of Wight County setting and the network of agricultural drainage ditches, creek corridors, and wooded property borders throughout the area create consistent mosquito habitat that generates pressure on residential properties from late spring through fall. Properties in Windsor that are surrounded by agricultural land on multiple sides experience mosquito influx from neighboring field drainage areas after rain events that can overwhelm untreated yard perimeters quickly during peak season. Windsor's warm summers and high seasonal humidity combined with the agricultural landscape make consistent barrier treatment particularly valuable for properties where outdoor use across the full yard is important for families and pets.

Does Mosquito Treatment Also Control Other Pests?

Our mosquito barrier treatment provides incidental control of ticks, fleas, gnats, and flies as a side benefit. Because the spray targets the same shaded, vegetated areas where these pests commonly rest, you may notice a reduction in their activity following each visit. However, tick, flea, gnat, and fly control are not guaranteed outcomes of our mosquito program. If you are dealing with a significant infestation of any of these pests, we recommend asking about our dedicated pest control services. The mosquito program is designed and priced specifically for mosquito reduction, and any additional pest benefits, while welcome, should not be the primary reason for enrolling in the program.
