Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Program
What Is the Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Program?
Our Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Program is a professional exterior lighting installation service designed to enhance the safety, beauty, and nighttime curb appeal of your property. Using Pro-Trade commercial-grade fixtures and 12-volt LED technology, our team custom designs and installs lighting systems built for long-term performance in outdoor environments. Unlike residential-grade fixtures from box stores, our commercial products are engineered with superior materials, moisture seals, and weather-resistant wiring. Systems are fully expandable, so you can add fixtures as your landscape grows or budget allows. The program is available for both residential and commercial properties and can be installed year-round, subject to weather and ground conditions. A free on-site design consultation is always the first step.
Commercial-Grade Fixtures That Last
Not all outdoor lighting is created equal. Our Pro-Trade fixtures are built to commercial specifications that far exceed what is available at retail stores. Every fixture features heat-resistant polycarbonate lenses that will not yellow or crack from UV exposure, dual O-ring moisture seals to prevent water intrusion, and waterproof EPDM rubber plug-in connectors for secure, maintenance-friendly connections. Fixtures are constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminum or brass with durable powder-coated finishes in bronze, black, or antique. All installations use weather-rated SPT-2W direct burial wire and professional-grade LED lamps rated for approximately 25,000 hours — roughly 10 to 15 years running four hours per night. This level of quality protects your investment long after budget fixtures would have failed.
The Three Types of Lighting Fixtures
We install three fixture types, each designed for a specific lighting purpose. Up lighting fixtures are ground-mounted and aimed upward to illuminate trees, architectural features, walls, and focal elements. They create dramatic shadowing effects and are typically placed 12 to 24 inches from the base of the feature being lit. Pathway lighting fixtures are low-profile and mounted along walkways, driveways, and entry points to provide safe navigation and welcoming ambiance, spaced 8 to 12 feet apart for even illumination. Well lighting fixtures are recessed and installed flush with the soil or turf for subtle ground-level illumination with minimal daytime visual profile — ideal for areas where exposed fixtures would be obtrusive or create tripping hazards.

Custom Design and Consultation
Every lighting project begins with a free on-site property evaluation by one of our lighting specialists. During this one to two hour visit, we walk the entire property, assess landscape features, discuss your design preferences and goals, and identify architectural elements worth highlighting. We also evaluate existing electrical access, transformer placement options, and any obstacles such as sidewalks or driveways that require boring. After the consultation, we prepare a custom lighting plan with exact fixture placement, wiring routes, transformer sizing, and detailed pricing. The design is reviewed with you before any work is approved, and adjustments to fixture type, quantity, or placement can be made based on your feedback. Final pricing is provided based on the approved design.
Wiring, Transformer, and System Design
All wiring is routed discreetly through landscape beds and buried 6 to 8 inches deep under mulch or soil. When wiring must cross sidewalks, driveways, or other paved surfaces, we drill underground tunnels at 12 to 18 inches deep — no cutting or trenching through hardscape. All fixture connections use waterproof EPDM quick-connect plugs rated for outdoor use; wire nuts and electrical tape are never used in landscape applications. The transformer converts standard 120-volt household power to safe 12-volt low voltage. We size transformers with a 20 percent safety margin above total fixture wattage to prevent overload and allow for future expansion. Transformers include built-in timers and photocell sensors for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation or custom scheduling.

Warranty Coverage
Our Pro-Trade fixtures come with a five-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, covering fixture housing, LED lamp components, lens integrity, and electrical connections. In addition, Meadow Lawn and Pest provides a one-year installation workmanship warranty. If wiring connections fail, voltage issues develop, or any installation-related problem occurs within the first year, we will return to diagnose and correct the issue at no charge. Warranty does not cover physical impact damage from lawn mowers or vehicles, lightning strikes, customer modifications, or normal finish wear after five or more years. If a warranty issue arises, contact us and we will schedule a service visit typically within five to seven business days.
What Is Not Included
This program installs permanent low voltage landscape lighting only. We do not install customer-supplied materials — our warranty applies only to our Pro-Trade fixtures, and outside materials create liability issues. We do not perform permanent electrical work such as installing new outlets, running circuits, or upgrading electrical panels. If your property lacks a suitable outdoor GFCI outlet for the transformer, you will need to hire a licensed electrician separately. We do not repair lighting systems installed by other contractors without a separate evaluation and quote. We also do not provide holiday or seasonal lighting — temporary string lights, rope lights, or decorative fixtures are not part of this program. Turf restoration after wire installation is the customer’s responsibility unless separately contracted.
Weather and Site Requirements
We do not install lighting when the ground is frozen solid — typically when temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit for 48 or more consecutive hours. Saturated soil from recent heavy rain is also a stop condition, and we wait 24 to 48 hours after heavy rainfall before proceeding. No installations are performed during active rain, sleet, or snow. Temperatures above 95 degrees may require early morning scheduling to protect our crew. Sustained winds over 25 mph are also a stop condition. Before installation begins, underground utilities must be marked by calling 811 at least three business days in advance. Please ensure all gates are unlocked, pets are secured, landscape beds are clear of heavy debris, and any irrigation lines in the work area are clearly identified.
